PUBLISHED JUNE 1, 2026 | BY SHAHZAMAN BIN AZIZ

If you are a remote worker or freelancer in Pakistan, you already know the ultimate struggle: managing heavy workloads while battling unpredictable load shedding and intense summer heat. I recently picked up the HP ProBook 640 G4 specifically for company meetings and managing publisher yields.

After using it as my daily driver for a month, here is my hands-on review, the actual price I paid, standard specs, and a lifesaver pro-tip for a common boot issue.

HP ProBook 640 G4 Pricing & My Buying Experience

Finding a good machine on a budget requires some negotiation. I bought this laptop from City Laptop in Firdaus Market, Rahim Yar Khan.

Initially, the shop quoted me 51,000 PKR. However, after a solid hour of bargaining, we agreed on 48,000 PKR. The best part? That price wasn’t just for the laptop—I managed to get the charger, a laptop bag, and a screen protector included in the deal. For a budget under 50K, this is a highly capable machine with a huge market presence in Pakistan.

30-Day Performance Review: Built for Remote Work

I have been using this laptop for about 7 to 8 hours daily, and it has handled my workflow without breaking a sweat. My standard daily setup is quite demanding on the RAM and processor:

  • 5 to 8 browser tabs open simultaneously at all times.
  • Slack running constantly in the background.
  • Desktop WhatsApp active.
  • Back-to-back Zoom meetings.

Despite the heavy multitasking required for managing publisher yields, the ProBook 640 G4 has not shown any annoying delays or lag.

Battery Life: Surviving Pakistan’s Load Shedding

The biggest selling point for me has been the battery life. This laptop comes equipped with the CD03XL battery, which has been an absolute lifesaver. It comfortably gives me 4 to 5 hours of backup, allowing me to power through power outages without dropping out of important meetings.

A quick tip for peak summer months: Avoid plugging in the charger while you are doing heavy work in non-air-conditioned environments. If the temperatures run too high while charging and working simultaneously, the laptop will start lagging to protect itself from overheating. It is best to charge it up when it’s idle or cool.

I have generated a CMD powercfg battery report so you can see the exact battery usage details and health with clear vision. >

Pro Tip: The 40-Second Fix for a “Dead” Screen

During my usage, I encountered a scary glitch that you might face too. Sometimes, if the battery drains completely to 0% and the laptop shuts down, it will not turn on even after you plug the charger in and hit the power button. It looks like the screen is completely dead.

Do not panic and rush to a repair shop! Here is the proven 40-second fix:

  1. Plug it in and wait: Connect your charger and leave the laptop completely alone for 5 minutes.
  2. The 40-Second Hold: Open the laptop lid. Press and hold the power button down for exactly 40 seconds.
  3. Watch the charging light: Keep your eye on the charging indicator light on the side. Right around the 40-second mark, the light will blink and change color to white.
  4. Wait for the screen: Your keyboard lights will turn on, making it look like the laptop is active, but the screen will still be blank. Do not press anything. Just wait for about 10 more seconds, and your screen will finally boot up.

Final Thoughts: Is it Worth the Money?

After 30 days of heavy daily use, my verdict is simple: It is absolutely worth the money.

Spending 48,000 PKR is not considered a high budget in today’s laptop market, but this machine punches above its weight. It smoothly leads my meetings, handles intensive multitasking, and most importantly, it survives the load shedding schedules in Pakistan.

Because this specific HP model has a massive resale market locally, even if you buy it between 48K to 50K, you can easily sell it later for 40,000+ PKR without much hassle. For any remote worker, freelancer, or student in Pakistan looking for a reliable, budget-friendly workhorse, the HP ProBook 640 G4 is highly recommended.
